Actually, the renewable energy transmitted by this line will be part of the regional power pool from which all New England consumers, including those in New Hampshire, draw from.

Here are my reasons.

I think with all the talk about gas prices going up, because American dollars are going to foreign countries for oil. This is what is going to happen to the electric prices with the same outcome of American money going to a foregn country. With the great concern about our trillion dollar deficit, wouldn’t it make great economic sense to work at structuring a facility within the New Hampshire State for the purpose of New Hampshire State? American money would remain within the State of NH rather than go out to a foreign country like Canada. More jobs would be created for the residents of New Hampshire. Residents of New Hampshire could choose where they want the facility. New Hampshire residents would have work at fixing the facility. New Hampshire residents would have a say on what price to set the sale of energy. Why are you Northern Pass so intent on continuing with the money going out to other government? This is wrong to do to the American people. Even President Obama says that we need to become Independent in our energy use. Many Senators in the United states around the country are looking in this direction of becoming Energy Independent. Americans know that to be Energy Independent helps with our National Security. I do not believe that you truly think that this project is wonderful for Americans. I truly think that you are happy that you have a job making money doing this project, period. You can still make money, and truly help New Hampshire, the United States all around by stopping the Northern Pass, and work at helping New Hampshire become more Energy Independent.
I have some other points to bring up. Doing a clear cut on the side of the mountains, will jeopardize the land by creating land slides when the snow melts. Water drainage will cause flooding at the bottom where most folks live.
Chemicals which you spread around around the Towers to prevent foliage to grow will seep into our drinking water, we all have fresh spring water. the chemicals will harm the wild animals. Don’t forget we also have the Connecticut River at the base of those mountains too, where the fish will be affected by those same chemicals getting into the ground.
The people of New Hampshire should be able to vote on what they want, they live there, and know what is best for themselves. Let Connecticut develop their own Independent energy, and the same should go for Massachusetts, and every other State in the Union. It is the best in terms of Economics, Freedoms, Rights, Security. Stop the Northern Pass.

Your question regarding the energy and where it will be sold is a good one. To be clear: every generator in New England can provide power into a regional grid. It makes little difference what state the generator is physically located in. The energy transmitted by Northern Pass will be part of the pool of power that is available for sale to any buyer in any of the New England states, including New Hampshire.

There has been some misinformation that may be the basis of some negative opinions, and I hope that as people learn more about the project they will find it less objectionable.
This week we reiterated our commitment to focus exclusively on rights of way that already have power lines, from Groveton south. We also are working to find a route from Groveton north that has the support of property owners.

There is no question that hydro power is good. We are not debating that. What we are debating is the method of transporting the power from Canada. Have you guys done a cost/benefit analysis of the additional costs of burying the cable versus challenging the public outcry about this project? How can you continue to claim that you are providing energy from a renewable source when your own material indicates that for the EXPORT market HQ uses Natural Gas as the main fuel source?

Additionally, as stated in the 2009 NU Annual Report there is a requirement for 1200MW to be sent North on the proposed bi-directional line… Obviously we already have the generating capacity and a market & existing infrastructure to supply that market to our South.

So, you are asking us to support the destruction of the natural resouces of NH and the accompanying tourism industry and numerous other negative impacts so that HQ can get it’s product to market, supplanting our own energy producers… Honestly can’t see the benefit to NH or it’s people!

Seriously, why would you destroy New Hampshire’s beauty and wildlife? It’s pretty obvious New Hampshire makes a lot of money off of tourists from down south. What ever happened to “going green”? This is both destroying nature and getting NH residents mad! It’s obvious you are just looking for trouble. Think about all the nature YOU are about to KILL!
