Project Milestones
The Northern Pass project is currently in the permitting and siting stage. Here's where the project stands today:
Public Outreach
- Project representatives have met with local officials in each of the communities along the preliminary preferred route, and have made public presentations in each community to share information and listen to residents' ideas and suggestions
- In response to public comments and concerns, project representatives are working with landowners and town officials to reevaluate certain segments of the preferred route, and to explore whether there might be other feasible routing options—particularly in the North Country—that could achieve broader community support
Federal Decisions
- Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)
- The project's participant-funded financing approach was approved by FERC in May of 2009
- The project's Transmission Service Agreement was approved by FERC in February of 2011

- An addendum to the Presidential Permit application was submitted in February of 2011
- The DOE held public scoping meetings in seven locations in New Hampshire between March 14 and March 20, 2011
